Mitul's Story
I was getting off the last day of Christmas block, where I worked 6 days in a row over Christmas holiday. I had been absolutely pestering Reema to come into Philadelphia on the day that I got off, telling her that I wanted to take some pictures of the city since it had just snowed. I got off of work and finalized my plans for the afternoon and set everything up perfectly.
I was late picking up Reema from the train station and she was not happy. I told her I want to go take some pictures, so we parked the car and started walking around. She was slightly curious by the fact that I was still dressed up and I just made up some lame excuse. She was likewhatever. I was really sure that she didnt suspect anything yet.
So we walked around City Hall and it was getting kind of chilly, so we walked around some stores and I told her we should go see the light show in the Wannamaker building. This is a light show that has been going on forever and I remember going to see it as a child. While this is happening, I am in touch with Mamta and my friend Alex, who are helping me out to capture the moment. Right when the light show starts, I step out to use the bathroom and meet with Mamta and Alex to finalize the plans. I then came back and told her that it was getting dark and we can come back later to come see the light show.
I told her I wanted to walk towards the art museum to get some pictures as the sun setting. She probably thought I was crazy! So we start walking towards the art museum and while walking, I went to go slip something in her pocket, but it accidentally falls on the ground. Luckily she didnt see what it was and I got it in her pocket without her noticing.
We then went towards JFK plaza, where there is a large Christmas tree and the LOVE statue. I told her I wanted to take a picture in front of the Christmas tree, she was resigned to the fact that I make her get in all these pictures. I then told her that we should go stand under the LOVE statue and somebody can take our picture. After waiting for what seemed like forever, we were able to get a tourist to take a picture of us under the sign.
This is when I got down on one knee and Reema began to cry. Im not even sure what I said or what she said in response, but I told her to look in her pocket. I had managed to slip a Taco Bell sauce packet saying Will you marry me? into her pocket and amongst all the tears and smiles, she got the message! I think she said yes! At this time, Alex and Mamta pop out to join us and we took some more pictures before heading back home to celebrate with our families!
